"We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." - Barack Obama
Hello students, families, and everyone else!
I began my post- secondary career in 2013 after graduating from Mother McAuley High School. With the drive I had to learn about the human body and mind, I spent 4 years earning my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Minor in Psychology from Eastern Illinois University. After earning my degree in 2017, I began my career in the fitness industry working with clients of many different backgrounds. During this time I sought to assist youth in overcoming obstacles to healthy lifestyles including physical fitness and proper nutrition related to food access. In learning more on health disparities within the city of Chicago, I gained insight into another massive inequity in the city-- education. So, I decided to look for a career that allowed me to work with Chicago youth and not only impact their general wellness through social/emotional support and physical activity; but also actively work against education inequities and its various oppressive structures. In the unique position of a school counselor, I am afforded the opportunity to do so. |
The 2021- 2022 school year is my first year as a professional school counselor at Ryder Elementary. I am so excited to spend this school year with you and come alongside Ryder staff to build a safe and inclusive school environment. In addition to being your school counselor I am leading the Student Voices Committee and MTSS Team. This means I am constantly in a position to advocate on your behalf to our school community.
To Ryder parents: Your student's academic success, personal/social well-being, and college and career readiness are my top priority. Please feel encouraged to reach out with any concerns in these areas.

Outside of the school building some of my favorite things are traveling, writing, learning new vegetarian recipes, biking down lakeshore drive, and binge- watching Netflix w/ friends. If it's nice outside, I'm most likely sitting outside a coffee shop with my Yellow Lab, Lola!
